Summer Food Program
SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
The USDA has extended its waiver allowing schools to continue distributing free meals to students throughout the summer of 2021. Listed below are the details regarding this summer’s program.
Beginning Tuesday, June 1, 2021, free summer meals will be distributed as follows.
- Meals will be distributed from the main District #102 kitchen behind Georgetowne School. (Please Note - The pickup location may be adjusted certain days or weeks of the summer to accommodate a variety of construction projects occurring at GMS.)
- Distribution for the summer will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM daily (Mon. - Fri.) and will include both breakfast and lunch items. There will be no meals distributed on holidays.
- Meals will be distributed in a drive-through format.
- Recipients will be asked to provide the name of the student and the name of the student’s school when picking up meals.
As was the case last summer these meals are FREE for any students age 18 or below. This includes students who do and do not qualify for a free or reduced lunch, including any students from Pekin High School or students from another district who might be staying with a family member during the summer months. It also includes children under the age of three who are not yet enrolled in a preschool program. These are state guidelines.
