District #102 REMOTE LEARNING PLAN (updated March 31st)

REMOTE LEARNING DAY PLAN (Updated March 31, 2020) - Late Friday, March 27, the Illinois State Board of Education informed school districts in Illinois that, starting March 31, schools would move away from using Act of God Days and start using what would be referred to as Remote Learning Days.  These Remote Learning Days began today (March 31) and will continue  until in-person, face-to-face instruction can resume.  During Remote Learning Days, schools may implement remote learning activities in an eLearning Plan, a packet format or a hybrid of both so that students are provided with instruction and access to educators through whatever means possible. Our district worked over the weekend and yesterday to complete and submit its Remote Learning Day plan. The plan is very similar to the process we have used over the course of the first two weeks of the shutdown, a combination of eLearning activities and remote instructional activities. For that reason, you may see little change from what you saw during the first two weeks.

Additionally, schools may use up to five Remote Learning Planning Days at any time after March 30 to conduct planning activities on Remote Learning Days.  On these days, Remote Learning will be suspended to allow for staff to engage in virtual planning of future activities. We will be sure to communicate those days to you throughout the coming weeks so that you are aware of the days when those are planned. Remote Learning Days, Remote Learning Planning Days, and Act of God Days will all count will count toward the minimum length of the school year. No student attendance days will need to be made up at the end of the year. Therefore, our last day of school is still scheduled for Friday, May 22, with the teachers schedule to have their final institute day on Tuesday, May 26

PLEASE NOTE - Spring break for District #102 is still scheduled to run from Saturday, April 4 through Monday, April 13,
with Remote Learning Days to resume on Tuesday, April 14.

The attached District #102 Remote Learning Day (RLD) plan was created in agreement with the Illinois State Board of Education’s recent guidance documents released on March 27, 2020. Districts have local control over the final plan to be implemented and District #102 ensures that our plan meets the state’s minimum requirements.
