Principals Welcome

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Georgetowne Middle School!  GMS currently houses approximately 220 students in grades 6-8.  Our mission is to prepare students for a successful high school career.  GMS utilizes some key aspects of a traditional middle school model to benefit our students.  Your child will benefit from the following here at GMS:

•  Rigorous academic scheduling with an 84 minute "block" of Reading and Language Arts
• Exploratory Classes in the areas of Computers, Spanish, Art, Family and Consumer Science, as well as Music
• Two computer labs and a library that serve as our media center
• Benchmark assessment designed to pinpoint student instructional levels and measure academic growth
• A dedicated staff interested in the academic growth of your child

Curriculum at GMS is aligned with the Illinois State Standards.  Student's needs and abilities are considered when planing our rigorous lessons.  We want all children to learn to their highest potential.  We strive to include a multitude of instructional strategies that will enable us to reach the various learning styles of our students.  We take a student centered approach to decision making and we look to data to drive our initiatives with a collaborative approach.
