Georgetowne Middle School is set to start soon, August 20th will be here before we know it. The secretarial staff would like to remind parents of the following information:

Visiting Georgetowne requires that you check in at the office to let us keep track of people in the building in case of an emergency. Please stop by to sign in if you are volunteering, would like to speak to a teacher or the principal, or just want to "tour" the halls. Thank You for your cooperation in helping us keep GMS a safe environment for the students.

HONOR ROLL

Georgetowne has two honor rolls which are compiled at the end of each nine weeks.  To be eligible for the regular Honor Roll a student must have all A’s and/ or B’s.  Students who qualify for High Honors must have all A’s.  8th grade students are considered for valedictorian and salutatorian at the conclusion of the school year.  This is based upon the student’s three year cumulative grade point average.

PHONING IN ABSENCES

Please call the school no later than 9:00 a.m. on the day your child is absent.  The school must contact parents whenever a child is absent.  Please help the office staff by phoning and reporting the reason for absence.

Please call 382-3456.  If you call before or after office hours (7:30-3:30) please leave a message on the answering machine at 382-3457.

LOST AND FOUND

A Lost and Found box is located in the office, if your child has lost an item of clothing, we will keep them till the end of the month. Books and other items will remain in the box until recovered, please remind your child to look here as they search for items that are lost.

CELL PHONES

Since the  District 102 Crisis Intervention Plan was written, staff have been prohibited to have their cell phones on during the day.  The Radio Frequency Waves that are produced when a cell phone rings can detonate explosive devises, if any are planted in/or around the school building.  Parents and guests are asked to also shut off their cell phones when they enter all of the District 102 schools.  Thank you for your understanding regarding this matter.

NO SOCIAL PROMOTION

Based on HB 452 school districts in the state of Illinois can no longer use social promotion to promote a student to the next grade.
